Job Description Summary
We are recruiting a Metrology Technician who will be working closely with Moulding Toolroom and Quality Engineering. Metrology is the science of measurement and includes all theoretical and practical aspects of measurement. A Metrology Technician is responsible for identifying measurement needs and planning and performing measurement tasks using tools, equipment, instrumentation and software programs.Daily tasks will include routine measurements of mould steel for PM and incoming inspection. Additional responsibilities will include maintaining measurement systems across the site and improving current measurement systems.

Main responsibilities will include:
Identify measurement needs and make informed decisions about the measurement process and timescales required, including selection of; tools, equipment, instrumentation and software program.
Access and interpret information and documentation to support the measurement process including; data, manuals, specifications, catalogues, calibration certificates and computer-generated information.
Prepare the work environment and perform tests and checks on measurement tools, equipment, instrumentation and software programs and determine suitability for use.
Take action when non-conforming tools, equipment, instrumentation, materials and software programs have been identified.
Plan and perform measurement tasks to ensure verifiable results, using measurement tools, equipment, instrumentation and software programs, following specified procedures and methodologies.
Retrieve, analyse, interpret, validate and record measurement results and data in line with specification.
Contribute to the production of records, reports and other measurement documentation.
Supporting the development of appropriate effective measurement methods concurrent with latest technologies.
The development and writing of automated measurement programmes.
Completion of measurement studies and writing measurement reports which include statistical and layout inspection as appropriate.
Provide local troubleshooting expertise when issues arise with measurement equipment.
About you:
Achieved GCSE or above, college qualification in either Science, Mathematics or Engineer is a distinct advantage.
2+ years experience withing a manufacturing and moulding setting is distinct advantage.
Happy to ask questions, be inquisitive and show a logical approach to problem solving
Demonstrated energy and enthusiasm.
Be self-driven and highly motivated to meet deadlines.
Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
Strong computer literate skills.
Team player, demonstrating the capability to accept and work on ideas of others.
Must be capable of accepting change of duties if business needs require.
The Salary Range Information:
£26,000 - £28,000 + benefits package
