Job Description Summary

The Project Manager is responsible for the maintenance of customer relationships in assigned accounts, maintaining a high level of customer service at or above expectations, and demonstrating accountability for their part in the BD Sales Process. This position manages the implementation and evaluation of MMS (Medication Management Solutions) products at customer sites through the development of timelines and facilitation and scheduling of internal and external resources. The Project Manager manages multiple implementation projects through project life cycle following standardized processes, including pre-sale activity, coordination of multidisciplinary team for product implementation, and post implementation customer follow-up. Key focus is on productivity in implementation and customer satisfaction and serves as the primary point of contact for customers during the implementation process.

Purpose: 

MMS Solution Deployment Project Management is responsible for managing all aspects of implementation and service projects for the MMS organization.  The Project Manager collaborates with customers and leads Implementation Project Teams on planning, scheduling and execution of all deliverables within the scope of the project or program. 

Overall responsibilities

The overall responsibilities of the implementation project manager include:

  • Lead, facilitate, coordinate, and track day-to- day activities required to ensure the project is completed on time, successfully, and in a manner consistent with organizational goals, departmental policies, established processes, and/or the standard terms and conditions of the contract

  • Creation and use of project plans for assigned projects, which include clear milestones and assignment of project task responsibilities

  • Successfully manage the scope of the project, including customer priorities

  • Demonstrate a proactive approach to identify risks to project success; develop effective action plans for resolution

  • Appropriately manage / escalate project issues or risks

  • Managing customer expectations of product and services

  • Providing leadership and direction for customers and BD project team

  • Demonstrate effective communication skills, verbal and written, with customers, project teams and leadership

  • Ensuring customer satisfaction

  • Demonstrated ability of leading project teams and act as an effective team leader for all matrixed staff

  • Accurately forecasting current and future quarter revenue for each assigned projects

  • Use of all governance tools for all assigned projects to effectively manage all projects

  • Provides constructive performance appraisal input through peer review process

Skills, Duties and Tasks particular to the job:

Project Manager

  • Has responsibility of small or medium sized projects or teams

  • Project scope requires minimal impact to customer workflow  (single site)

  • Responsible for maintaining project schedule and timeline

  • Compliant with forecasting and backlog management processes

  • Participates in pre-sale process for small or medium size projects

  • Provides coaching, mentoring, and training for project team

  • Demonstrates effective communication and engagement with customer

  • Ensures complete project closure including hand off and equipment confirmation

  • Demonstrates the professional and soft skills necessary to be an effective project manager

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

  • 3-5 years of experience in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Valid driver's license (must be at least 21 years old)

  • Ability to lift a minimum of 40 lbs and perform physical tasks including pushing, pulling, stooping, and bending

  • Proof of and ability to maintain current immunizations including:

    • Hepatitis B

    • Influenza (current year)

    • MMR (mumps, measles, rubella)

    • Varicella (chicken pox)

    • Annual TB/PPD (skin test)

    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis

  • Demonstrated competency in essential soft skills:

    • Negotiation skills

    • Effective interpersonal communication

    • Team leadership

    • Ability to work in matrix environments

    • Professional customer communications (verbal and written)

    • Decision-making skills

    • Building and leading effective project teams

    • Conflict resolution

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project management or leadership experience

  • Specific knowledge of BD business

  • Knowledge of industry-recognized project management methodologies

  • Understanding of implementation project governance expectations

  • Experience with small to medium-sized projects or teams
