Guillaume Dussault will celebrate 20 years of working at BD in 2025. It’s something he is proud of, but he is also reflective as he thinks about why he chooses to remain at the company: teamwork and the learning and growth opportunities.

“I feel grateful to work at a place where anytime I want to step out of my comfort zone and learn something new, I can absolutely do that through a stretch assignment or additional projects or learning at BD,” Guillaume explained. “And I truly enjoy going into the office and working with the local team there. We have a very friendly and teamwork-focused culture, which I enjoy.”

From Chemical Engineer to Quality Expert

Armed with a technical degree in chemical engineering, Guillaume began his career with GeneOhm as a Quality Validation Supervisor supporting the Diagnostic Solutions business. GeneOhm was ultimately acquired by BD, and Guillaume continued to work in various validation related roles for nine years before moving to his current role as Quality Expert, Complaint Management, for BD Diagnostic Systems.

On a daily basis, Guillaume works across different regions and countries to support customer inquiries relating to the BD MAXTM system reagents and now adding more platform to the portfolio such as the BD CORTM system. He works with field representatives and technical experts to help manage and support these inquiries and ensure any issues are resolved in a timely manner.

Learning, growing, and connecting to our Purpose

“BD offers tons of learning and allows you to develop as much as you’d like, which is refreshing – it’s really up to you to take advantage. I welcome learning new things or things outside of my role and the chance to try something new,” said Guillaume. “And I love it when my manager encourages me to try new things.”

The other aspect he respects and appreciates is the power in the company’s Purpose of advancing the world of healthTM. “When I think about all of the BD products you see in a hospital or clinical setting, it’s impressive. And then I also think about how our devices are helping people in underserved areas of the globe to receive accurate diagnoses – it’s amazing.” 

When thinking about what he may tackle next – volunteering comes to mind quickly. “We offer a lot of volunteering opportunities at BD and given there is so much need in the local and worldwide communities – it’s on my list to participate in the future for sure.”
