Job Description Summary

The Associate Director of Marketing Excellence leads and oversees product marketing to ensure commercial success by aligning product value with market needs for the Medication Delivery Solutions (MDS) business unit. This role demands a strong understanding of healthcare audiences and regulatory environments, along with the ability to simplify complex medical concepts into clear and effective positioning and messaging. The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader with a strategic mindset, capable of guiding cross-functional teams in a fast-paced setting to support global marketing and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership:

    • Lead and develop a team of Product Marketing Managers to ensure commercial success and support strategic business objectives across global regions and platforms

    • Assist the Vice President of Global Marketing & Commercial Excellence with strategy, continuous improvement, and team development efforts

    • Prioritize and allocate resources effectively to ensure timely execution and delivery of marketing initiatives

    • Develop and implement annual global product marketing & communications strategies that align with business objectives, drive brand consistency, and support cross-regional marketing initiatives

    • Develop collaboration across regions to share approved collateral, insights, and standard processes

    • Drive innovation in product marketing by integrating emerging technologies, including AI tools for ideation, personalization, and automation.

  • Marketing Excellence:

    • Champion adoption of the BD Messaging Playbook and other Marketing Excellence tools and frameworks

    • Lead cross-functional planning and creation of customer profiles, personas, and journey maps for target regions

    • Craft clinically accurate, compelling value propositions for cross-platform initiatives that resonate with healthcare professionals, administrators, and patients in targeted regions

    • Develop compelling marketing claims and lead cross-functional alignment and approval processes to ensure compliance and impact

    • Coordinate and facilitate BD Way of Marketing training sessions across the business unit.

  • Product Marketing Strategy & Execution:

    • Oversee the planning and execution of product marketing for the MDS business unit, ensuring impact and alignment with business goals

    • Ensure accuracy, strategic clarity, and brand consistency across all product marketing deliverables, in alignment with regulatory standards

    • Lead cross-platform content creation efforts, including support for event marketing and conference materials

    • Partner with PR and communications teams to support media outreach and brand visibility

    • Maintain and manage the product marketing calendar to meet deadlines and business objectives.

  • Vendor Management:

    • Oversee vendor relationships and guide teams in selecting appropriate partners.

  • Performance & Optimization:

    • Oversee message testing and validation to ensure product positioning and messaging is compelling, differentiated, and actionable.

    • Collaborate with regional partners to monitor and evaluate content performance.

    • Leverage insights and commercial feedback to refine product marketing strategy, improve ROI, and enhance market impact.

Education and/ or Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field

  • 5–7 years of experience in product marketing, preferably within medtech, biotech, or healthcare industries

  • Exceptional writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to simplify complex medical concepts for diverse audiences

  • Strong grasp of core product marketing principles, including:

    • Customer personas, behavior-based segmentation, and targeting.

    • Insight generation, brand positioning statements, and benefit ladders.

    • Creative briefs and messaging frameworks.

    • Differentiated marketing claims.

  • Deep understanding of regulatory environments (e.g., FDA, HIPAA) and compliance requirements.

  • Proficiency with content management systems (CMS), SEO protocols, and marketing automation platforms.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders while meeting deadlines.

  • Proven leadership experience in cross-functional and global team environments.
