Job Description Summary

We are recruiting for a highly driven cross-functional leader with proven new product development (NPD) and technical leadership to drive execution, standardization and promote best in class practices for portfolio value improvement projects such as gross profit (GP) enhancement and value analysis, tariff mitigation and value engineering (CTW) initiatives. Additionally the role will help to drive BD Excellence tools and methodology forward in the Medication Delivery Solutions (MDS) business to drive long term strategy execution.

Job Description

Responsibilities:  Each responsibility is a grouping of tasks/duties. Do not create a list of individual tasks.  Generally, each position has 4 to 6 responsibilities.    See the Guidance Document for examples of responsibilities.

1. Serve as independent reviewer of GP and CTW strategic initiatives promoting, speed design reviews (SDR), problem solving Plans (PSP), and timeline assessments for all (6) MDS business units.

2. Manage consistency and integrity of key milestones and dashboards associated to GP and CTW active projects. for all (6) MDS business units.

3. Regularly reports and interacts with MDS Business units (BU) PM leaders, executives and/or major customers to provide visibility on key progresses and outstanding risks to allow portfolio investment analysis and trade off decisions. 

4. Conduct required training to improve PMO competencies and share lesson learned across all (6) MDS business units.

5. Consolidate tariff mitigation impact reporting.

6. Support BD Excellence implementation.

May perform other duties as required

Scope of Responsibility:

Strategic Orientation:

  • Monitor project vitality and risk management to usure effective use of project buffers, acting as independent reviewer and mentor for project managers driving execution.

  • Review innovation pipeline key metrics to ensure adequate risk retirement of design and manufacturability risks and robustness of market study, to balance return of investment (ROI) and achievement of clinical needs.

  • Drive initiatives such as SDR, PSP and program evaluation review technique (PERT) to accelerate project execution and proactively manage risks.

  • Ensure definition, tracking and achievement of key matrixes related to p GP and CTW (KDG2b/c) across all (6) MDS business units.   

  • Maintain a sense of urgency, facilitate meetings to address obstacles, and hold team members accountable to program commitments.

  • Anticipate and mitigate risk points. Make tradeoffs between time, schedule, cost, and quality (when appropriate), while meeting safety and regulatory requirements

  • Exhibit strong technical expertise in product development processes and provide mentorship to Program/Project Managers and other team members.

  • Exhibit project leadership skills including, but not limited to, critical path definition, optimization, monitoring, and management to ensure the most efficient time to market

  • Regularly interacts with PM BUs leaders, executives and/or major customers. Interactions frequently involve special skills, such as negotiating with customers or management or attempting to influence senior level leaders regarding matters of significance to the organization.

  • Interaction normally requires the ability to gain cooperation of others, conducting presentations of technical, strategic and business information concerning specific projects or schedules.

Essential Functions

Education/Degree

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in engineering field required.

  • Post-graduate degree preferred

  • Certifications (if applicable)

  • PMP certification (or similar) highly desirable

  • PMI-ACA (or similar Agile process) certification highly desirable

  • For people management position, indicate years of experience required 

  • 15+ years’ experience in product development, manufacturing, operations and/or engineering

  • Other:  Identify the minimal level of other competencies required for the position. 

  • Lean, six-sigma and continuous improvement experience preferred

  • High volume disposable medical device product development experience from concept to successful commercialization, including sterilization processes.

  • Experience in system integration to drive the definition of key requirements and system level testing between the disposable and durable part of the design.

  • Experience with all phases of the product life cycle: planning, feasibility, verification, validation, process qualification, transfer, and post-launch.

  • Product launch experience working with Global teams.

  • Demonstrated track record of leading multiple successful programs that met business and product objectives.

  • Business acumen to drive portfolio prioritization aligned with overall CC and IS growth targets.

  • Experience with FDA’s regulation for Design Control (21CFR 820.30) and EU’s regulation for the same (ISO 13485 / euMDR).

  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely to all levels of the organization, spanning cross-functional teams to business leadership.

  • Expert in cross functional/cross-sites/external strategic partner team leadership delivering critical business goals within a phase-gate based product development process.

  • Aptitude to engage, influence, and direct all functions and partners involved in the development of new products. Anticipate and understand implications across all functions.

  • Ability to achieve challenging goals through others without direct authority across different functions, external partners, geographies, and cultures. Drive for accountability within self and others
