Senior Director, R&D-Algorithms
This role leads an AI organization in R&D-Algorithms. Responsibilities include strategic planning, project prioritization, risk mitigation, budgeting, and talent development across the R&D organization. The position provides R&D leadership for algorithm AI/ML programs from development through clinical validation, regulatory submissions, integration, and market adoption. It involves cross-functional collaboration with Marketing, Clinical, and Regulatory teams, as well as building partnerships with clinical key opinion leaders (KOLs), researchers, universities, and other clinical partners. Additional responsibilities include advising on unmet clinical needs, guiding executive-level decisions, mentoring engineers on emerging technologies, and reporting to executive team status updates on AI/ML algorithm development and innovation programs.
Essential Job Functions
Direct end‑to‑end AI/ML algorithm development and R&D activities with full ownership of creating advanced AI/ML models to be used in signal‑processing algorithms and core hemodynamic‑parameter measurement algorithms and clinical decision support. Oversee clinical data analysis, data warehousing strategies, system‑level planning, staffing, budgeting, and expense prioritization. Provide technical leadership and clinical‑validation expertise, guiding SMEs and cross‑functional teams in refining methods and implementing improvements. Develop and execute a robust talent‑development strategy and succession‑planning framework aligned with global functional growth objectives.
Plan and direct strategic AI/ML algorithm initiatives by prioritizing and selecting high‑impact projects with full accountability for achieving business objectives. Lead risk identification and the development of complex mitigation strategies, best practices, and alternative solutions. Drive issue resolution in collaboration with cross‑functional and matrixed teams while effectively influencing stakeholder strategies across Marketing, Clinical, Regulatory, and other key functions within the business unit.
Provide R&D leadership across major AI/ML algorithm development programs, overseeing end‑to‑end activities including algorithm design, clinical validation, regulatory submissions, integration into monitoring platforms, clinical launch, and post‑market clinical adoption. Partner closely with Medical Affairs, Marketing, and field teams to ensure successful deployment, support, and sustained clinical impact of AI-based algorithmic technologies.
Strategic and clinical partner relationship development and management. Collaboration with key opinion leaders (KOLs) and other clinical partners, scientists, researchers and university groups.
Mitigate/eliminate risk, direct and communicate highly complex strategies which includes negotiations with internal and external parties.
Serve as an advisory role for algorithm engineering in identifying new unmet clinical needs and parameters based on new algorithmic platforms for advancing BD in future business needs.
Analyze, formulate and present recommendations to advise and guide executive level leadership; develop and deliver executive level communication.
Guide and mentor engineers on new and emerging technologies and projects
Required skills

Ability to develop and integrate metrics into the projects and operations that clearly demonstrate the value of algorithm engineering to the business
Serve as core partner to senior leaders in Business Units, Functional Groups, and Regions
