Job Description Summary

The Business Associate Director, Biosciences, ANZ, will lead, develop, and execute sales and marketing strategies for our BD Biosciences (BDB) business, ensuring that each strategy has an effective tactical plan to drive revenue growth, increase market share and achieve profit targets by delivering complete solutions for our customers.

Furthermore, this position will actively contribute to the strategic development, planning and global strategies for the BDB division. In essence, this leader’s expertise and leadership will play a vital role in shaping the success and expansion of our Biosciences businesses in the ANZ region in Clinical and Research markets.

Also as the separation of the business from BD and integration into Waters will be approaching, this role will serve as a transformation leader who will stabilize the business and team during transition. He/she will be responsible for guiding the business through a comprehensive transformation process. This role involves overseeing the design, delivery, and successful implementation of transformation initiatives to ensure the business operates effectively and efficiently and to achieve strategic objectives for the business.

Responsibilities:

  • Establish business strategies, objectives, policies and set performance standards and targets to drive accelerated growth

  • Analyse economic, social, technical, legal, and other data or trends for integration into strategic plans.

  • Direct business activities for the achievement of short- and long-term business objectives, increased profit, and market influence.

  • Liaise with key national customers, industry associations and local/federal government departments to keep abreast of changes impacting the market.  

  • Prepare budgets, reports and forecasts and ensure timely monitoring and corrective actions take place to deliver on P&L commitments.

  • Maintain a close working knowledge of performance indicators.

  • Lead, engage and continue to build and develop an effective ANZ BDB team incl.

    • monitoring and evaluating individual and team performance

    • providing prompt focused directional feedback and support

    • Identifying, coaching, and developing talent. 

  • Act as an internal champion for key systems and processes including Customer Centricity, Sales and Marketing Excellence, S&OP, and the Quality Management System.

  • Manage close contact and communication with regional and worldwide teams to ensure focus on key growth engines is maintained and that local strategies align with global initiatives.

  • Ensure all activities of ANZ BDB comply with relevant Acts, legal demands, and ethical standards. Adhere to the requirements of the Quality Management System as maintained by BD Australia and New Zealand.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • 10-15 years' experience in marketing and sales is desirable.

  • Healthcare and/or Life Sciences industry experience a must

  • Sales experience managing B2B/ large accounts desirable

  • Experience leading sales efficiency and excellence

  • Demonstrated leadership capability - leading people leaders, talent management, financial, sales, marketing, and operational management.

  • Analytical with strong attention to detail.

  • Ability to understand the needs of the business and our customers and translate that into a tactical approach that aligns with our strategy.

  • Consultative approach - comfortable being challenged in thinking.

  • Strong and proven financial acumen - good understanding of P&L management and analysis.

  • Comfortable working with ambiguity.

  • Self-aware - able to use the talent in the team to support decision making and ideas.

  • Continuous and versatile learning.

  • Thought leadership with an ability to effectively communicate to influence others to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Tertiary qualified, preferably with a degree in the sciences or related field.
