Job Description
Production Operator
Location: BD Tuas, Singapore
Employment Type: Full-Time | Shift-Based Manufacturing Operations
About the Role
Join BD Tuas as a Production Operator and play a key role in manufacturing high-quality medical devices that help improve patient outcomes worldwide. You will be responsible for operating production equipment, monitoring process performance, conducting quality inspections, and ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities
Production Operations
- Operate assigned production machines and process equipment.
- Perform basic troubleshooting to minimize downtime and achieve production targets.
- Carry out preventive maintenance activities, including cleaning, servicing, and component replacement.
- Monitor and record machine and process parameters, taking corrective actions when required.
- Perform in-process inspections and product sampling to ensure compliance with quality specifications.
- Support production improvement projects and operational changes while ensuring adherence to quality, safety, and environmental standards.
- Conduct product and machine changeovers, including material replenishment, tooling changes, machine setup, and MES system updates.
- Ensure accurate production reporting, including output, scrap, downtime, and material traceability.
Quality & Compliance
- Follow established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Safe Work Instructions (SWIs), and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Identify and escalate quality issues, non-conformances, and process deviations.
- Support investigations and corrective actions when required.
- Ensure products consistently meet BD quality standards and customer requirements.
Continuous Improvement
- Participate in Kaizen, 20 Keys, safety initiatives, and other continuous improvement programs.
- Contribute ideas to improve productivity, safety, quality, and operational efficiency.
- Actively participate in shift handovers and team discussions.
Safety & Environmental Responsibility
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Comply with all Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) requirements.
- Report safety incidents, near misses, and potential hazards promptly.
- Support BD's sustainability and environmental initiatives through responsible resource usage and waste reduction.
Requirements
- Minimum secondary school qualification or equivalent.
- Prior experience in manufacturing, production, or machine operation is advantageous.
- Ability to operate machinery and perform basic troubleshooting.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, and public holidays when required.
- Basic computer literacy and ability to work with manufacturing systems (MES) is preferred.
- Team player with a positive attitude and commitment to safety.
