Cost Accounting Manager (On-Site)
In this role, the Cost Accounting Manager provides Financial/Accounting support mainly but not limited to the BD-DS Baltimore Campus Sites. This position requires a strong cost accounting background, experience with monthly plant performance reporting, and willing to managing multiple deliverables. This position will maintain accounting and reporting procedures resulting in accurate product costs and manufacturing performance reporting. Promote change, as needed, to ensure compliance to GAAP/SOX, reviewing and delivering recommendations for continuous improvement, and clearly communicating relevant financial information to plant leadership and DS Business.
Duties & Responsibilities
Support all planning, reporting, and analysis of Standard Product Costing, Manufacturing Variances, Inventory and its component parts. Including:
Developing standard costs
Ensuring manufacturing performance is accurately reported
OEM’s Accounting
Month End Activities
Reconciliations
Ensures that financial reports and records are prepared in compliance with US GAAP and BD financial policies.
Ensures that financial controls are maintained and that the requirements of the Sarbanes/Oxley Act are met.
Assists both internal and external auditors with their periodic review of the BD Diagnostic Systems financial records.
Performs other related duties and assignments as required
Support the Sparks Instrument Plant needs
Minimum qualifications
Education & Experience
Requires 3+ years of relevant progressive accounting / finance experience in a manufacturing environment: manufacturing operations, product costing, manufacturing variances and inventory control, financial analysis, and budgeting & forecasting experience required.
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. A CPA, MBA, or CMA is preferred.
Proven ability to lead and serve as an effective team member in a large organization including planning, developing, organizing, directing, managing, and evaluating personnel
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Strong cost accounting experience.
Prior experience with Plant Dashboard reporting and commentary preferred.
Demonstrated ability to improve controls and influence decisions through accounting knowledge and data driven financial analysis.
Must be highly proficient with Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, macros, VLOOKUPS, etc.)
ERP experience is necessary; specifically, SAP experience is preferred.
Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to communicate well with management of all levels.
Knowledge of corporate accounting policies and procedures.
Self-driven, proactive and seeks continuous improvement.
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, matrixed, challenging environment with strong attention to detail.
Should be well organized and possess good analytical and interpersonal skills
Ability to lead projects
Audit experience preferred, and knowledge of SOX controls.
