Job Description Summary - Senior Procurement Specialist

The Procurement Specialist is dedicated to BD´s Pharmacy Automation (robotic storage and dispensing automation) business. The Procurement Specialist supports strategic sourcing activities and supplier management initiatives across a variety of mechanical and electro-mechanical categories. Working closely with procurement managers, cross-functional stakeholders, and suppliers, the role contributes to cost optimization, supply continuity, quality improvement, and project execution. Through strong analytical capabilities, supplier engagement, and effective project coordination, the Procurement Specialist helps to deliver procurement objectives and supports the optimization of the preferred supplier base.

About the Role

Reporting to the Associate Director Pharmacy Automation and being part of BD's global Integrated Supply Chain Organization, the Procurement Specialist supports procurement activities across manufacturing and R&D operations within the Pharmacy Automation Business Unit.

The role focuses on supplier management, sourcing execution, and procurement project support to ensure a competitive, efficient, and scalable supply base. Working closely with internal stakeholders and suppliers, the Procurement Specialist contributes to cost reduction, supply risk mitigation, and business continuity initiatives while helping Procurement strengthen its role as a valued business partner.

The Procurement Specialist collaborates with the global procurement community and cross-functional teams to support supplier development activities, new supplier onboarding, sourcing projects, and transfer initiatives, ensuring effective coordination and project execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate BD Leadership Standards and Values.
  • Support strategic sourcing and supplier management projects across assigned categories.
  • Assist in identifying, evaluating, and implementing preferred suppliers aligned with business requirements and product specifications.
  • Coordinate supplier qualification, onboarding, and performance improvement activities.
  • Support resolution of supplier-related issues involving delivery, quality, cost, and service performance.
  • Conduct supply market research, supplier benchmarking, and data analysis to identify sourcing opportunities.
  • Assist with supplier negotiations, RFQs, cost analysis, and contract administration activities.
  • Track project milestones, risks, and mitigation actions while ensuring timely stakeholder communication.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and procurement performance metrics.
  • Support initiatives to achieve cost savings, working capital improvements, and supply chain risk mitigation targets.
  • Maintain procurement data and documentation in accordance with company policies and procedures.

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Procurement, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Preferably 2+ years of procurement, sourcing, supplier management, or supply chain experience.
  • Experienced with organizational and project coordination.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Good negotiation and analytical skills.
  • Understanding of supplier cost structures and procurement fundamentals.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional and multicultural environments.
  • Experience supporting sourcing initiatives and supplier management activities is preferred.
  • Knowledge of mechanical & electro-mechanical commodities as well as related manufacturing processes is an advantage.
