Job Description

Senior Software Project Manager

“At the end of everything we do is a patient. At the beginning, is you!”

With thousands of medications passing through hospitals and reaching patients every day, medication management is complex. Errors and inefficiencies can have a significant impact on patients and healthcare professionals.

BD is committed to helping reduce medication errors and simplify medication management by bringing safety and clinical practice together in measurable ways. Our portfolio includes infusion and IV therapy systems, infusion pumps, software solutions, interoperability with hospital information systems, and vascular access devices and accessories. From the hospital pharmacy to the patient’s bedside, our solutions help support safe and effective infusion therapy.

BD offers a comprehensive suite of infusion software solutions designed to improve patient safety, reduce costs, and optimize infusion management.

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Software Project Manager to join our growing software organization in Vienna.

Our Vienna-based teams develop software for a connectivity platform in the infusion domain, supporting multiple infusion programs. As the organization expands its scope to support a new program in the infusion domain, we are looking for an experienced project manager to provide cross-team project coordination across the involved software teams and the broader program organization.

In this role, you will be the main project coordination and communication point for the new program within the Vienna software organization. You will collaborate with software teams and stakeholders in Vienna and connect their activities with the broader international program and collaborating development teams.

Your focus will be on creating alignment and transparency across teams, coordinating priorities, dependencies and planning, and enabling effective communication between the Vienna software organization and the broader program.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Act as the main project coordination and communication point for the new infusion program within the Vienna software organization.
  • Coordinate activities across Vienna-based software teams and facilitate effective collaboration between Product Owners, developers, testers, technical leads, and other stakeholders.
  • Connect the Vienna software organization with the broader international program and collaborating development teams.
  • Drive alignment on priorities, dependencies, timelines, and deliverables across teams and stakeholders.
  • Support roadmap and Program Increment (PI) planning and ensure alignment of the Vienna software scope with broader program objectives.
  • Identify and coordinate cross-team dependencies, project risks, impediments, and alignment needs.
  • Participate in relevant agile planning and review activities, ensuring transparency and effective information flow across the organization.

Must-haves

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, Life Sciences, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Professional experience in software project management or project coordination within a complex software development environment, ideally in healthcare or medical devices.
  • Experience coordinating activities, priorities, and dependencies across multiple software teams and disciplines.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams, functions, and locations.
  • Familiarity with agile software development methodologies and frameworks such as Scrum and SAFe.
  • Ability to quickly understand complex technical and organizational topics and translate them into effective project coordination.
  • Fluent English.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to collaborate with international project teams.
  • Structured, collaborative, and solution-oriented approach to problem solving.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the medical device, healthcare, or another regulated software environment.
  • Project management or agile methodology training and certifications.
  • Experience working with distributed international development organizations.
