About us
BD-Japan is the Japanese subsidiary of BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company), a global medtech leader supporting healthcare around the world. Since its establishment in 1971, we have been providing essential products and services for medical settings. At our Fukushima plant, we manufacture prefilled syringes based on Japan’s strict quality standards and deliver them reliably both domestically and internationally.
Following BD’s acquisition of C.R. Bard, Medicon Inc. became part of the BD Group in Japan. In 2024, we further expanded our portfolio by acquiring the Critical Care business from Edwards Lifesciences, enabling us to meet a broader range of healthcare needs.

Our business
BD-Japan and Medicon are home to about 750 diverse associates working across offices nationwide, the Fukushima plant, and various field roles. From customer‑facing positions to specialized functions that support our products and services, members with a wide variety of strengths work together to support the future of healthcare.

We contribute to healthcare through a broad range of businesses, including hazardous drug exposure protection products, infusion management products, blood collection products, medication management systems, hemodynamic monitoring products, prefillable syringes, urology and emergency care products, oncology and peripheral vascular therapy products, and hernia and hemostatic materials.
Our Locations
BD-Japan operates nationwide, centered on our Tokyo headquarters (while Medicon’s headquarters is in Osaka). By collaborating with our Fukushima manufacturing plant, sales offices, and distribution centers throughout the country, we have built a strong structure that supports medical settings.
