Job Summary:

Become an integral part of our Facilities Engineering team where you'll help manage our physical plant operations, implement innovative facility designs, equipment installations/ improvements, oversee capital projects, 3rd party contractor management and drive sustainability initiatives. Your expertise will directly impact our operational efficiency, safety compliance, and environmental footprint.

Your Impact & Responsibilities:

  • Engineering Systems Management: Take ownership of critical plant systems including HVAC, chilled water, steam, compressed air, plumbing, electrical infrastructure, building management controls, fire protection, and civil/structural elements.
  • Strategic Planning: Help develop and execute short and long-term facility capital upgrade roadmaps based on thorough site evaluations and inspections, complete with detailed supporting documentation.
  • Project Leadership: Coordinate, schedule, and supervise capital projects, often collaborating with third-party firms to ensure timely and quality execution.
  • Manufacturing Space Development: Conduct assessments, conceptual sizing, and create high-level budgetary estimates for new manufacturing spaces.
  • Sustainability Champion: Monitor utility usage (electric, water, natural gas) and drive sustainability initiatives. Identify and implement energy conservation opportunities and resource/waste reduction strategies.
  • Maintenance Program Optimization: Evaluate and revise equipment maintenance programs, ensuring effectiveness through regular review of completed activities.
  • Equipment Logistics: Collaborate with Project Engineers on equipment moves, installations, and removals. Develop comprehensive work scopes and oversee contractor performance.
  • Compliance Guardian: Partner with third-party maintenance providers to maintain full compliance with OSHA, DEC, EPA, and building code regulations.
  • Contractor Management: Source, contract, and supervise specialized outside contractors. Apply project management expertise to assigned initiatives.
  • Safety Advocate: Work closely with the EHS department to assess and prevent safety incidents related to buildings and grounds. Help develop effective facility safety programs.
  • Vendor Relationship Management: Assist with contract management for third-party maintenance providers handling facilities maintenance, grounds, and housekeeping. Track work tasks, budgets, and key performance indicators.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an applicable engineering science, or

  • Minimum of five (5) years of engineering experience

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Ability to perform routine site inspections and assessments of the physical plant.

  • Skilled in construction and project management.

  • Demonstrated ability to complete assignments with limited oversight.

  • Strong focus on maintaining project schedules with clear, effective communications.

  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude and excellent trouble shooting and diagnostic skills.

  • Requires strong supervisory skills, coupled with excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to define problems and resolve them quickly to keep plant operational.

  • Ability to work well with ever changing priorities and/or situations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with building codes and OSHA regulations.

  • Proficient with 2D AutoCAD functions, to develop and maintain site drawing library.

Physical Demands:

Frequently requires light physical effort as in periods of prolonged standing, sitting at files or worktables or bending, stooping, or reaching. Requires physical effort on an intermittent basis as in lifting, pulling, or pushing heavy, bulky, or awkward loads - up to 40 lbs.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the associate frequently works near moving mechanical parts, and is frequently exposed to fumes/disagreeable odors, airborne particles, noise, etc. May require some exposure to chemicals used in manufacturing processes, requiring some precaution. The associate must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) required to perform this job safely.

Remote or field-based positions will have different workplace arrangements which will be indicated in the job posting.

The salary or hourly rate offered is determined by the role's specific requirements, including any applicable step rate pay system at the work location. Salary or hourly pay ranges are influenced by labor laws and Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) requirements applicable to the work location which may also affect the workplace arrangement of the role.
