Job Description

PositionSummary:

Works under the direct supervision of theShift Leaderwith a dotted line reporting relationship to the department(s) for which support is providedProvides diversified supportofprojects, tests, diagnoses,experimentsand any other higher level electrical and/or programming support functionThis position requires that qualified techniciansbe responsible forelectrical design concepts, programming, cost analysis, troubleshooting,debuggingand testing of new and existing production equipmentThe Electrical Engineering Tech will also be expected toinitiateand complete projects that replace obsolete equipment, reduce operation cost, increase efficiency and capability, improve quality and any other ideas that lead to continuous improvements of automated manufacturing equipment.

This position will include support for PLC, vision, motion control, digital displays, robot material handlingsystemsand all other electrical control systemsAlso provides electrical/electronic/mechanical production and project support including machine electrical control fabrication, troubleshooting and repairs for assigned product areas.

This job must be performed with diligence and attention to detail because of the significant safety and quality risks inherent to the positionThis position will provide leadership through work direction,guidanceand training to department personnelDaily interaction isrequiredwith other departments, BDplantsand vendors. 

Duties/Responsibilities:

Essential responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Willbe responsible formaintainingequipment in the sterilization area. Responsibilities include project work, working with vendors,installationand onboarding of new equipment, upgrading existing equipment, andassistingin other areas, as needed.

  • Programming of any electrical control system.

  • Backup for othertechnicians where service and supportisneededMay require working off shift.

  • Installation and integration of safety control equipment.

  • Maintains proper documentation for area(s) of responsibility.

  • Ensures thatappropriate qualityengineers/techs/auditors/operatorsare notified of programming/electronic changes that affect product or process quality.

  • Maintains and repairs electrical/electronic and optical equipment inthe sterilization areaThis includes troubleshooting, testing,adjustingand calibrating replaced parts, etc. in a manner that willfacilitatea safe and effective repair.

  • Minimizes quality risks due to the electrical/electronic machinery/equipment includingmaintaininginspection systems.

  • Minimizes electrical safety risk by ensuring approved procedures arefollowedand standards are met.

  • Project workincludinglayout,fabricationand programming.

  • Communicates andmaintainsa favorable rapport with team leaders, engineering,maintenanceand production associates.

  • Works with minimal supervision.

  • Ison-calltosupport fordowntime preventionand technical issues, as needed.

  • Usescomputers to program PLC’sand interface with peripheral equipment.

  • Drawsnew control diagrams or changes existing drawings using Auto Cad.

  • Communicates daily events, projects, etc. to themaintenance teamon the next shift.

  • Provides training to production personnel and/or other technicians.

  • Must be available during planned maintenance periods

  • Performs other duties as assigned by Team Leader andrequiredto support the needs of the business.

  • Obey all company policies,standardsand rules, including but not limited to: Safety policies and rules (including lockout procedures); Quality policies and rules

  • Mustmaintainregular, punctual attendance.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Performs other duties as assigned by theSr Engineerandrequiredto support the needs of the business

  • Radiation Certification - Must be able to acquire in6months. This job is contingent on clearing an FBI background check. You will be required to provide fingerprints to be sent to the FBI The corporate security officer will determine ifthe backgroundinformation will be acceptable for this position. 

Education:

  • Associates Degree(Major: Electronics or equivalent),required

  • The degree requirement may be satisfied throughdemonstratedrelevant experience or by active enrollment in the applicable degree program

  • Certificate of Completion froman advanced PLC training course, preferred

Experience:

  • 2+ years’ experience with related industrialelectronics,required

  • 3+ years’ experience withindustrialcontrols,required

Knowledge,Skillsand Abilities:

Required:

  • Knowledge of programming software for PLC’s, displays,servosand vision equipment.

  • Well developedtechnical writing skills.

  • Forklift – Must be able to obtain within 3 months.

  • Ability to learn robotic systems.

  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.

  • Ability to think logically.

  • Ability to use electronic/electrical test equipment including VOM, clamp on ammeter, logic analyzer, oscilloscope, etc.

  • Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose electrical/mechanical problems.

  • Ability to read and understand electrical/electronicdrawingand schematic diagrams.

  • Provenproblem solvingskills.

  • Well developedinterpersonal and teamwork skills.

  • Ability to positively takedirectionand suggestions from others.

  • Demonstrated customer service skills.

  • Well developedcommunication skills.

  • Ability to innovate and implementnew ideas.

  • Ability to give direction to others.

  • Ability to manage a large project.

  • Ability to understand FDA and site regulations for change control.

  • Must be able to speak,readand write English

  • Good interpersonal skills

  • Computer skills (SAP, Excel, Word preferred) -Advanced


Preferred:

  • Auto Cadproficiency.

  • Ability to program robotic systems.

  • Visual Basic programming skills.

  • C/C+ programming skills.

  • Leadershipskills,the ability to take on larger projects.

Physical Demands:  

  • PCP Level2: Exertingup to 20pounds of force occasionally, and/orup to10 pounds of forcefrequently. Requires walking or standing to a significant degree: or requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls. 

Work Environment (if applicable):

  • Indoor heated and cooled environment.

  • High speed manufacturing environment.  Must remain alert and focused.

  • May have intermittent exposure to chemicals.

  • Safety glasses and safety shoes must be worn when in required areas.

  • Degree of exposure to dust, dirt, heat, fumes, noise,vibrationand chemicals.

  • When working outside, any & all physical elements of weather & temperature may be present. 

  • Safety shoes, safety glasses, and high visibility clothingmust be worn in the warehouse andsterilization.

  • Some physical exertion, including lifting, may berequired.
