Job Description
As part of the Engineering group, primary focus is on the design, fabrication, implementation and debugging of new equipment and modifications to existing equipment. Additional responsibilities include engineering support of process improvement, waste reduction and overall line efficiency improvement.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Participates in the design, fabrication, and installation of modifications to sterilization machinery and equipment to improve quality and costs.
- Coordinates and supports vendor design, acceptance criteria, installation, and debugging of new sterilization equipment and machinery.
- Investigates, specifies and provides economic justification of new sterilization machinery, equipment and process.
- Troubleshoot and solve technical problems pertaining to sterilization machinery, equipment, and process.
- Supplies and maintains drawing files for all sterilization machinery and equipment.
- Provides written or on-site technical assistance to the other plants.
- Coordinates manufacture and supply of sterilization machinery or equipment to other plants.
- Coordinates engineering activity with Maintenance and Machine Shop Supervision.
- Closely coordinates engineering activities on Division R&D projects as directed.
- Prepares standards for Preventative Maintenance, Modifications, ECOs, and issues proper documentation for manufacturing.
- Generates CB2s and provide technical information needed to maintain capital expenses budget.
- Provides assistance in all phases of Budget and Standards preparation.
- Supervises and assures the proper use of engineering methods and techniques such as time study, work simplification, systems analysis and value analysis.
- Promotes and evaluates cost reduction, quality improvements and capacity expansion programs/ strategies and as appropriate determine their economic and technical feasibility.
- Supervises the preparation of all layouts for cost reductions, new products, etc. and maintains up-to-date layouts of plant equipment.
- Proposes and implements changes in plant processes and equipment to increase efficiency and improve overall cost positions. Includes total responsibility for preparation of design concepts and project submittal papers such as estimates of expenditure, savings and payback.
- Designs, recommends and implements cost reduction projects within the scope of annual plant targeted goals.
- Designs safety and comfort into processes and equipment.
- Completes and/or supervises the completion of necessary equipment specifications, designs, drawings, etc.
- Provide support to Sterilization Operators as needed.
- Responsible for all associated documentation including, however not limited to, the following: validations, operating procedures, preventive maintenance schedules, change review notifications, and spare parts listings.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED and minimum of 4 years experience. Industrial/Manufacturing experience preferred.
- Must be able to interpret and comprehend basic ladder logic in order to use the PLC as a troubleshooting tool
- Completed coursework in following subjects required (relevant experience may be substituted for individual courses): Industrial Electricity, AC/DC Circuits I & II, Control Circuits, Programmable Controllers, Programmable Controllers Applications, Industrial Instrumentation, & Problem Solving for Mechanical Applications.
- Associates Degree in "Industrial Electronics" or equivalent is preferred.
- Possess proficient skills in electrical industrial systems.
- Must be able to comprehend and adhere to specifications, procedures, requirements both written and verbal.
- Must be able to support a weekly call in schedule every three weeks.
- Position will require the successful completion of an FBI background check performed by the NRC (U.S Nuclear Regulatory Commission) and reviewed by the RSO (Radiation Safety Officer). The candidate will be required to provide written consent for this background check.
