Associate Director Plant Operations is responsible for the leadership and direction of an overall plant operation. This position is accountable for achievement of key operational goals aligned with key business objectives. This includes leading the overall plant operations to meet the goals in safety, productivity, quality, and financial performance. The Plant leader effectively influences and partners with senior leadership on operational strategy and overall is responsible for the execution of the strategies. The Plant leader has influence on key factors of operating income as it relates to significant levels of budgeted human capital and material resources. Roles and Responsibilities
Lead all business areas including production, supply chain, engineering and quality team to meet overall business and customer needs.
Effectively provides strategic plans and business updates to senior leadership.
Inspires overall team to have a customer first mindset culture.
Effectively and consistently lead the execution of operational strategies while prioritizing and meeting the day to day business demands in a matrixed team environment
Establish operational management systems to effectively monitor overall plant performance as it relates to the master production schedule, safety, quality control, continuous improvement activities, customer satisfaction levels, corrective actions, maintenance, inventory level, production/purchase variances, and product service levels
Develop, implement and maintain manufacturing operating procedures and assist in supporting the maintenance of product master device records
Proactively determine overall manufacturing support including workforce planning and equipment planning to meet production schedules
Provide overall inspirational leadership to the matrix team encouraging continuous improvement and overall team collaboration
Partner with the Quality Assurance Department to assure compliance with regulatory agencies
Proactively working with the Senior Director in the planning and approval of major equipment purchases
Coordinate manufacturing related programs to establish and maintain GMP and ISO 13485 certification
Qualifications and Minimum Education/Experience
BS degree in Engineering, Biological Sciences or Business is required. Advanced technical (MS or PhD) and/or business management degree (MBA) is preferred.
Must have a minimum of five (5) years leadership experience with direct supervisor responsibility in a discrete manufacturing environment, preferably in the production of electromechanical instruments or devices.
Broad knowledge of high performance manufacturing, FDA regulatory requirements, validation concepts and techniques, standard cost accounting, and business finance is required.
Experience with lean manufacturing, six sigma, and category management is desirable along with MRP and production order transaction maintenance experience using SAP.
Knowledge and experience with the BD Quality system or equivalent is preferred.
Must demonstrate excellent communication skills, fluency in interpreting and modeling the BD values, ability to seek input from others, ability to relinquish control, and knowledge of current and anticipated customer needs.
Must demonstrate proven leadership skills capability and ability to mentor, coach, and develop other associates
