Summary

The Manufacturing Engineer will provide support to the Manufacturing team to enable production to meet the ship schedule and provide a high-quality product to BD Parata’s customers. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, adaptability, and a willingness to work in a collaborative team environment are skills that will support a high level of success in this position.

Responsibilities

The characteristics described below are representative of those encountered while performing the essential functions of this position.   • Manage labor standards/rates as tools to drive efficiency improvement and ensure accurate financial absorption.
  • Maintain manufacturing bills of materials (BOMs) so that replenishment processes correctly account for parts usage in Manufacturing.
  • Design and implement fixtures and processes to support manufacturing operations.
  • Lead or support manufactured product quality continuous improvement efforts.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design engineers, quality engineers, and production personnel, to ensure smooth production operations and timely delivery of products. 
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to resolve production issues and minimize downtime.
  • Implement and provide support for new product introductions and existing product changes that impact Manufacturing, using the Engineering Change Order (ECO) process and other tools.
  • Provide manufacturing floor operations support to include:
  • Improve and maintain manufacturing process instructions (MPIs)
  • Support or lead Lean efforts to improve cell layout, replenishment, 5S, standard work, visual management, and quality at the source.
  • Improve and maintain Kanban’s and other replenishment processes to ensure components are always available and properly accounted for.
  • Maintain manufacturing bills of materials (BOMs) so that replenishment processes correctly account for parts usage in manufacturing.
  • Support or lead manufactured product quality continuous improvement efforts.
  • Perform other duties assigned to meet business needs.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial, Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering Technology or other related field of study.  In lieu of degree, relevant experience acceptable.
  • 1-3 years of related work experience with BS degree
  • Experience using SolidWorks, a plus.

Skills

  • Excellent analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to work across a variety of departments.
  • Multi-tasking and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Appreciation and awareness for Manufacturing demand and prioritization
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to work independently, and part of a team.
  • Ability to work closely with and provide work direction to others in high demand situations.
