Job Description Summary

As Associate Director, Corporate Communications BD Excellence, you will be responsible for the development and execution of a multifaceted communications strategy to improve awareness, drive adoption, and ensure the successful implementation of an enterprise-wide operating system. You will report to the Senior Director, Executive Communications and will partner with colleagues across Corporate Communications and the business to develop plans, campaigns and content that accelerate BD Excellence - the company's lean operating system and culture - drive the change management journey and advance a continuous improvement and lean culture throughout BD. The Associate Director will partner with the SVP and functional team overseeing BD Excellence to lead the creation and launch of a coordinated internal communications program that engages associates and deepens understating of BD Excellence - the company's lean operating system and culture - across the organization.

Key Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Work in partnership with the BD Excellence leadership team and Corporate Communications function to create and implement an internal engagement communications strategy focused on embedding BD Excellence priorities and cultural aspirations across the enterprise.

  • Develop and implement the BD Excellence internal communications and change strategy to drive leader and associate engagement and advance the priorities of BD’s lean culture deeper into the organization.

  • Develop communications that connect BD Excellence to broader BD priorities and provide context for how BD Excellence drives business performance and culture. Define and implement strategies for effective, innovative and creative content.

  • Develop communications strategies and materials for high-impact programs that can be delivered across businesses, regions and functions.

  • Lead and manage the development and publishing of content, in partnership with Corporate Communications, for internal communication vehicles including intranet, town halls, video scripts, emails, presentations, talking points, Q&As and others.

  • Provide counsel to BD Excellence leadership while building and maintaining positive relationships with senior executives.

  • Support the development of strategic externally facing content that highlights BD Excellence and ensure all messaging is appropriately aligned to the current narrative.

  • Establish mechanisms for assessing the value, impact, and outcome of communication initiatives, and proactively adjust approach as needed.

About you:

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree required – preferably in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, Business, or related.

  • Minimum 10+ years of professional communications or marketing experience in a corporate environment required.

  • Extensive experience managing internal communications and change communications initiatives and background in cross-functional communications programs.

  • Consistent track record working in a matrixed organization with multiple stakeholders spanning across business areas and functions.

  • Strong executive presence; effectively communicate to Senior Leadership and engage across multiple levels within BD.

  • Strong business acumen and broad knowledge of industry best practices. Ability to understand relevant information and reflect it in key communication strategies.

  • Able to challenge and present alternative options for consideration.

  • Outstanding communications capabilities, experience developing functional narratives, presentations and supporting messaging that is appropriate and effective across multiple vehicles.

  • Strong presentation and storytelling skills and ability to effectively work across multiple communication vehicles (presentations, video, intranet, etc.).

  • Must be an experienced editor and proofreader, with strong attention to detail.

  • Strong and effective project management skills.

  • Ability to manage and support sensitive information and confidential matters with the utmost discretion.

  • Must possess native or native level written, oral and interpersonal communications skills in English.

Desired Skill / Experience

  • MBA a plus

  • Experience in global healthcare or other heavily regulated industry

  • Experience in continuous improvement/lean organizations

  • Experience working to solve quality challenges in a “Tiger Team” environment with tight time frames and pressure
