Data Governance Architect

Job Description Summary

We are seeking a skilled Data Governance Sr. Analyst to join our team to drive data quality and data governance initiatives throughout the BD enterprise. The ideal candidate will have a background in data governance implementation, including expertise in data quality, data security, data management, metadata management, and data sharing. The candidate should have experience in leading teams, policy enforcement and project management skills to drive business value and innovation. Experience with configuring Data Quality workflows, integrating data sources, and data governance tools such as Collibra, Immuta, Alation, data bricks are highly desired. Strong analytical skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams are essential. Prior experience in Data Engineering is also desired.

Job Responsibilities: 
•    Define data governance strategies, policies, and procedures.
•    Define and enforce data governance standards, ensuring data quality, consistency, and accuracy throughout the data lifecycle.
•    Manage data cleansing initiatives through tools and partnerships
•    Develop data governance frameworks and guidelines, including data classification, data ownership, and data stewardship.
•    Provide implementation guidance on data quality initiatives, including establishing data quality standards, conducting data profiling, and defining data quality rules and metrics.
•    Ensure data security and privacy compliance by providing implementation guidance on appropriate access controls, data classification protocols, and data protection measures.
•    Design data management processes, including data identification, metadata management, data lineage, and data cataloging.
•    Define data sharing and collaboration across teams and departments, ensuring data access, usability, and proper data sharing agreements.
•    Provide guidance and training to business users and stakeholders on data governance best practices, policies, and procedures.
•    Stay updated on industry trends, standards, and regulatory requirements related to data governance and recommend appropriate modifications to existing policies and practices.
•    Collaborate with various business and technology stakeholders to identify, analyze, and resolve data quality issues, data gaps and data conflicts.
•    Facilitate data governance forums, such as data governance council, data stewardship committees, and data quality working group, to ensure alignment and collaboration on data governance objectives and priorities.
•    Measure and report on data governance metrics and KPIs, such as data quality score, data completeness, data accuracy, and data compliance.
•    Contribute to the continuous improvement of data governance framework, processes, and tools, by identifying and implementing best practices and lessons learned.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
The ideal candidate will bring a combination of data governance expertise, business and technology acumen, exceptional relationship building skills and solution-oriented mindset together. In addition, this person should also possess:
•    10+ years of experience in data governance, data quality, data management, or data analysis, preferably in a medical device, healthcare, or FDA-regulated environment.
•    Experience using data governance tools and platforms, such as Collibra, Informatica, Alation, or similar.
•    Experience defining and implementing data quality rules, data lineage, data catalog, data dictionary, and data security.
•    Experience supporting data governance initiatives and projects, such as data migration, data integration, data cleansing, and data analytics.
•    Experience with Structured Query Language (SQL) is required.
•    Familiarity with Databricks Unity Catalog and Notebook development is highly desired. Prior experience with data masking and row level security will be beneficial. 
•    Ability to understand and write data transformation logic using Python and Spark-SQL; experience with Databricks workflow will be preferred.
•    Experience working in a highly matrixed organization and overcoming ambiguity.
•    Ability to align and work with diverse regional stakeholders.
•    Strong humility, listening, creativity, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
EDUCATION
•    Bachelor’s degree in data science, information systems, computer science, or a related field is strongly preferred. Educational certificate or training in data governance, data quality, or data management is a plus.
