Job Description Summary

Responsible for project work relating to new and existing equipment, using reliability tools and techniques. Responsible for assisting Planned Maintenance Technicians, Mechanical Technicians, as well as Process Engineers and Reliability Engineers, in identifying and executing process improvements to drive site asset performance and improve equipment reliability.
Ensures compliance with BD quality systems, policies, procedures, and best practices, and all local, state, federal and BD safety regulations, policies and procedures. Regular, punctual attendance is an essential job function. Ability to read and write and converse in English. Willing and able to uphold BD Values.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate and support the Reliability Engineers in implementation of process improvements.

  • Support new equipment installation as directed.

  • Support Plant initiatives in technology and implementation. Project management for medium or smaller projects.

  • Assist in the completion of preventative maintenance activities to ensure equipment reliability.

  • Assist in development of optimal maintenance plans, machine settings, and validated parameters for equipment.

  • Assist in identifying future and current machine components and system risks.

  • Continuously learn and keep abreast of new developments in technology.

  • Utilizes maintenance and reliability tools to initiate projects.

  • Ability to target and collect data to drive project direction and improvements.

  • Assist with engineering projects when required.

  • Order replacement parts and set up in parts crib as required.

  • Required to work during plant shut down periods to assist with maintenance and engineering projects.

  • Analyze MTBF and MTTR data to identify trends and areas for improvement.

  • Support the development and enforcement of maintenance strategies aligned with company standards.

  • Collaborate with the Reliability Engineer to diagnose and resolve high-complexity breakdown issues.

  • Conduct regular audits and optimize preventative and corrective maintenance processes.

  • Travel requirements up to 25% possible depending on projects.

  • Other duties as required to support the needs of the business.

Minimum Education:

This position has the following minimum educational requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED: Required

  • Associate’s degree - Required

  • BA/BS Degree – Preferred – Science, Industrial management, Engineering or a related field

  • In lieu of associate degree, 5 years Technical or manufacturing experience in a related role required

  • 2 years Medical Device Manufacturing Experience preferred

Minimum Experience:

  • 3 years’ experience in manufacturing preferred

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.

Physical Demands:

  • Medium Work (Level 3) – Exerting 20 to 50 pounds occasionally or 10 to 25 pounds frequently, or up to 10 pounds constantly. Physical demands requirement are in excess of those of Light Work

Work Environment:

  • The worker is subject to inside environmental conditions:  Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.

  • The worker is subject to noise exposure, mechanical hazards, high heat, chemicals, and other industrial hazards associated with manufacturing.
