Mold Maker Apprentice 3rd Shift

Job Description Summary

The position of Mold Maker Apprentice requires a thorough training in the mold shop best practices. Incumbent will work with Planned Maintenance Leader and plant Engineers to assemble, repair and troubleshoot equipment to support production. Assist in cleaning,troubleshooting, and repairing molds and mold components. This position is required to meet specific guidelines in training, schooling, shadowing and experience set forth by the Mold Tooling Specialist and NAMc management team. Ensures compliance with BD quality systems, policies, procedures and best practices, and all local, state, federal and BD safety regulations, policies and procedures. Regular, punctual attendance is an essential job function. Ability to read and write and converse in English. Willing and able to uphold BD Values.

Shift: 3rd Shift 12am-8am

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Install, clean, and maintain parts on production equipment (Molds) and tools as requested. . Disassemble and assemble molds without damage to components. Assist in setup and debugging of new equipment. Install plumbing and mechanical devices such as valves, cylinders, flow meters, pressure regulators, gauges, sensors, air lines, motors, gearboxes, pumps, etc. Light fabrication work. (shields and guarding).  Perform miscellaneous tasks that improve throughput of Mold Repair. Other duties as required to support the needs of the business.

Supervision:

This position does not supervise any associates at any level

Minimum Education :

Required : HSD/GED

Minimum Experience:

Preferred: Machinist/Mold maker certificate with desire to continue education into Certificate and/or Associates degree.

  • Completion of some of the following course work preferred: Technical Communications, Grinding Operations, Blue print reading, Precision Measuring, Manual Mill, Manual Mill and Welding for Machinist.

Proficient/Working KSA:

Competency in all basic math and working knowledge of higher math (including trig, algebra and geometry) and knowledge of decimal system

Able to interpret readings from test indicators, micrometers, and assorted gauges

Blueprint reading for assembly

Knowledge of machinery

Experience that demonstrates mechanical aptitude necessary to build, assembly, troubleshoot and repair equipment

Communication skills
