In Surgery, our products empower providers to reduce the incidence of surgical complications, improve patients’ experiences and lower the total cost of surgical care.
About the role
This role is responsible for defining and delivering the UK+ Ireland (UKI) strategy for the Surgery (SUR) Business, and also have oversight on the global TissueMed product planning and strategy.
With UKI P&L responsibility, the business leader will deliver profitable growth across the diverse Surgery portfolios and markets. With a focus on value-based healthcare, they will position the organisation for success, driving customer experience, better serving the patient and enabling healthcare professionals to be successful.
In addition, you will help define and drive the key TissueMed marketing goals and commercial strategies though the marketing manager. You will be accountable for the marketing expense budget while driving top line sales performance. This position will work closely with the Global Marketing Team in the US as well as internal Functional Leaders across the Surgical Complication Solutions Biosurgery business.
The role will report to the Country Business Leader, BD Interventional UKI.

About the role:
P&L Responsibility. Delivering the Surgery UKI annual budget. Control of operating expenditure and optimise resource
Create and deliver the multi-year Go to Market strategy for profitable growth
Lead and coach Surgery management team to deliver optimal performance
Deliver high impact new product launches
Drive the adoption of data led business technologies, tools and initiatives to improve performance / effectiveness throughout the sales teams
Build close working relationships with a range of contacts, including key opinion leaders, societies and educational bodies within the industry, UK and European.
Collaborate with Market Access team to identify and develop growth opportunities.
As Global Strategic Marketing for TissueMed,
Oversight of:-
- The vision for the TissuePatch portfolio. Comprehensive strategic and tactical plans to achieve business and financial objectives.
- TissuePatch portfolio with responsibility for results in terms of achievement of budgeted levels of sales.
- Strategic initiatives for TissuePatch product lines.
- KOLs and also internal stakeholders from R&D, Regulatory, Operations, Sales and other functional and regional teams to value new business opportunities and to develop new products relevant to growth.
- Market information is acquired, competitive activity is monitored, and customer needs are identified.
- Working with the Global Marketing Leader, develops and sets global pricing corridors and related policies for new product launches, and as applicable, existing products. In partnership with Global Marketing Director, implements and maintains "best practices" in market shaping, product development marketing, and lifecycle management.
- In partnership with Global Marketing Director, Accountable for working with regional marketing counterparts to develop and execute regional strategies to ensure achievement of financial/ budget expectations.
- All activities delivered with / through the local and global marketing teams.
About you
You will be an experienced P/L leader in the Medical Devices industry, with a demonstrable track record of success. Surgery experienced is desired, but not essential.
Also you will have:
Significant experience within a complex healthcare business
Definition and execution of business, sales and marketing strategies
Comfort with finance for non-finance managers / dialogue with controllers
Good understanding of the NHS/Health systems and full appreciation of the impact of Governmental policies on SUR business
Effective communicator that inspires a growth mindset within the organisation. Strong influencer and negotiator
User and advocate of new technology and modern business tools – strong advocate of a data led approach
Able to work in complete partnership with colleagues and customers alike
Creative, inspiring with a can-do attitude
