Job Description Summary

We are looking for a Manufacturing Engineer, to join our team in BD Enniscorthy. You will assist with all engineering activities relating to the introduction of a new product being manufactured and you will perform tasks associated with these activities including the key areas of equipment installation, calibration, and process troubleshooting.

You will be responsible for assisting in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of processes and equipment to produce products that meet customer requirements and are cost-effective.

Our vision for Peripheral Intervention at BD

Our Peripheral Intervention (PI) business unit offers a comprehensive range of medical products, devices and services for the treatment of peripheral arterial and venous disease, cancer detection, and end-stage renal disease and maintenance.

Main responsibilities will include:

  • Initiate the improvement of existing manufacturing processes, interfacing with production and engineering groups in resolving problems encountered on the production floor, using Six Sigma principles.

  • Participate and sometimes leads on project teams with engineers, technicians, and other professionals of various disciplines/departments to continuously improve product, equipment, and fixture processes on the manufacturing line.

  • Initiate and develop process validations, software validation and equipment validations.

  • Participates in Equipment design, development, and optimisation for more complex equipment.

  • Identify and Update revision of SOP’s to reflect current practice.

  • Develop and implement procedures to provide easy to follow instructions.

  • Participate in Product transfer activities.

  • Conduct complaints investigations, CAPA investigations and Continuous Improvement activities to improve the product or process.

  • Participates and provides inputs to training on department and division procedures, and policies.

  • Prepares and submits for approval requests for project funding.

  • Plan and coordinate engineering test builds.

  • Support Site audits and present process steps or documentation.

About you:

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering or similar field is essential.

  • Experience and understanding of basic engineering cost analysis.

  • Basic tooling and design and drafting knowledge.

  • Experience with creating, analysing and optimising manufacturing and quality systems.

  • Excellent attention to detail and problem solving skills.

  • Ability to create, review and coordinate test protocols and reports.

  • Comfortable working in a multi-functional team environment.

  • Understanding and experience of working in a regulatory environment.

  • Experience understanding and meeting the needs and expectations of internal and external customers.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with customers and colleagues.

  • Six Sigma Knowledge, Yellow Belt Certified is a distinct advantage.
