Summary of Job Responsibilities:
The New Product Development Engineer will work within the Engineering organization to develop new products for medical delivery systems. The position requires collaboration with other groups including manufacturing, marketing, clinical affairs, regulatory, quality assurance and research & development to ensure all aspects of product development are covered. The ideal candidate will have specialized expertise in biomaterials and bio-design, coupled with a proven record of applying first principles in their approach to complex engineering challenges.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Manage design and development activities on assigned projects

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project scope, goals and timelines

  • Coordinate and manage testing activities such as biological, mechanical, chemical, and biocompatibility testing

  • Apply first principles of engineering and material science to innovate and solve problems.

  • Support design reviews, material selection and related meetings

  • Ensure compliance with ISO standards and regulations such as FDA and GMP

  • Develop test protocols, analyze data and prepare reports

  • Develop technical documentation such as engineering drawings, specifications, user manuals, training materials and product descriptions

  • Provide support during early commercialization phase

  • Conduct risk analysis and failure mode analysis

  • Conduct rigorous testing and validation of new materials and designs.

  • Assist in establishing laboratory equipment maintenance program

  • Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in biomaterials and bio-design.


Qualifications
Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or equivalent STEM field.

  • Advance degree is preferred (Ph.D.).


Required Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience working on medical device product development without advance degree.

  • Minimum 2 years relevant experience working on medical device product development with Master degree.

  • Ph.D.'s without industrial experience welcome to apply.

  • Strong foundation in first principles of engineering and material science.

  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.


Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in developing complex medical devices involving mechanical and material science.

  • Prior knowledge of FDA QSR, ISO 14971 and similar international regulations
