About the role

Reporting to the Laboratory Informatics Specialist Team Lead, the EMEA Lab Auto Informatics Specialist works in team with other BD stakeholders and is responsible for delivering product expertise for Network Configuration and Computer Infrastructure for the implementation of our Lab Auto solutions at customer site, troubleshooting for Middleware solutions, Information Systems Integration and roll out BD Remote Support tools.

As LAIS, you will be working closely with Workflow & Customer Solutions Team IDS and IDS Lab Automation Project Managers Team to provide our customers with the best user experience.

As subject matter expert, you will provide regional support to customers. You will work with country teams to successfully deploy competencies in implementation and post-sales support processes. As such, you are expected to work directly with customers, local Informatics Specialists, Field Service Engineers, Application Specialists, Commercial teams and the Global Service and Marketing organizations.

Main responsibilities will include:

  • Support the implementation of the BD Lab Automation at customers as trusted advisor of the Microbiology laboratory.

  • Collaborate with the Project Managers, Field Service Engineers, Sales and Clinical Solutions team and other members of the informatics team to complete comprehensive project plans for implementation.

  • Configuration of BD Lab Automation Data Management Solution at the customer, including the Lead implementation of LIS connectivity and customization of the software to the customer’s existing and unique laboratory setting/system.

  • Lead IT Server installations, handle and respond sharply to direct support requests from customers, local teams and Project Managers, working together with regional and local teams, customers and employees to solve technical issues related to BD’s middleware installations.

  • Assist the Regional, Global Support, R&D, Quality and Regulatory departments to resolve root cause of product issues and provide feedback on product design and performance, driving product improvements.

  • Identify, through interaction with Regional teams and customers, product improvement needs, performance issues and key concerns, communicate to European marketing teams as part of the regional VOC for global teams.

  • Ensure that Field Corrective Actions are accurately implemented.

  • Roll out new product releases, update or any new version of BD middleware solution.

  • Perform other tasks as requested, in support of the advancement of the middleware platform development and deployment in the region, in coordination with regional marketing and Regional teams.

About you

  • Degree or equivalent experience in Computer Sciences/Networking/Technical, demonstrable knowledge and experience.

  • Excellent customer focus and problem-solving skills, flexible and proactive attitude towards changing priorities and multiple workstreams.

  • Minimum three years’ experience in a field-based support role, preferably with experience in Flow Cytometry, Microbiology, Molecular Diagnostics or BD medical devices. Specifically, experience supporting middleware solutions in hospital or laboratory IT environment. Experience as a 3rd line support engineer is a plus.

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, willingness and ability to communicate at multiple levels within customers and the BD organization.

  • Proficient in spoken and written French and English.

  • Experienced knowledge of information systems, including computer hardware, Operating System configuration, network design and troubleshooting and virtualization technologies.

  • Information security experience.

  • Knowledge of SQL Server installations and troubleshooting, SQL queries.

  • High level of experience with connectivity to LIS systems (ASTM, HL7, interfacing projects).

  • Knowledge of Remote Systems Management and Support solutions.

  • Knowledge of IIS and web-based applications installation and troubleshooting.

  • Confirmed customer project management skills.

  • Self-starter, willing to take on regional initiatives and drive them independently to completion.

  • Willing to travel within EMEA (up to 60%).
