POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE:Supply Planning Manager

DEPARTMENT/COMPANY:                     Supply Chain

REPORTS TO:                                             Associate Director, Global Supply Chain

Basic Job Purpose: 

Supply Planning Manager leads a team of planners/buyers and Warehouse associates across multiple sites as a part of the Supply Chain Team. Works with Global Network Planner to best manage both domestic and international replenishment. This position also reports capacity requirements and material availability to Plant Management. Supports and works closely with the Business Process Team to form process guidelines that are feasible to meet tactical and strategic goals.  

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Manages the process of converting unconstrained Demand Consensus requirements to capacity constrained, feasible Supply Network plans over an established rolling horizon period with agreed upon frequency.

  • Drives the alignment of inventory levels and mix to achieve key operational goals for service level, backorder incidence/duration and inventory turnover.  Responsible for backorder levels, inventory dollars and stock loss which impact the P&L statement.

  • Responsible for the tracking/reporting of the assigned departmental metrics; Backorders, Order Line Fill, Stock Loss, Inventory, etc.

  • Establishes the process to maintain plant wide SAP parameters and master data. Defines and documents recommended master data settings to ensure data consistency. Coordinates training of users as necessary.

  • Collaborate with other departments to identify vulnerabilities and close operational gaps. Interfaces with Corporate Procurement Team on supplier performance and cost improvement initiatives.

  • Leads and/or provides resources to key Supply Chain projects.

  • Complies with all GMP, regulatory and ISO guidelines, including company policies and departmental procedures.

  • As part of the SIOP Process the Supply Chain Manager will contribute to the monthly Supply Consensus meeting.

  • Responsibilities may include daily production planning activities and supervising assigned Buyer/Planners, as well as developing the necessary skill competencies.

  • Actively engaged with Plant Safety, Lean & Quality team(s)

  • Works with other department managers and supervisors to ensure smooth product flow and achievement of plant projects across Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost.

  • Actively participate on Plant ESC team

  • Plans and directs shipping, receiving, and warehouse activities, and establishes group priorities to maintain quality, cost, and customer service expectations within a safe working environment.

  • Tracks group performance via key metrics

  • Establishes and maintains controlled inventory location systems

  • Aligns the use of inbound and outbound transportation carriers to maximize efficiency from a customer service and cost standpoint, using preferred DS carriers where practical.

  • Ensures all cycle counting and, as necessary, physical inventory activities are performed in accordance with business requirements.

  • Participates in budgetary decisions, controls overtime, and proposes capital purchases.

  • Champions all Lean Daily Management System (LDMS) elements and strives for continuous improvement in warehouse functions. Helps identify problem areas and implement changes to improve performance.

  • Creates and fosters a Culture of Quality throughout the warehouse organization to ensure that customer needs and regulatory requirements are primary drivers in business decisions.

Skills:

  • Production Planning, Demand Planning, Inventory management experience.

  • SAP skills, experience with SCM module a preferred skill

  • Advanced analytical skills, planning, interpersonal and oral/written communications skills.

  • Demonstrated problem resolution skills and team building skills.

  • Thorough knowledge of GMP, ISO requirements.

  • Operations mindset to get things done, empowering people, and collaborating cross-functionally

Qualifications and Experience Required:

  • BA/BS degree in business or related field, or a minimum of 5-7 years of related experience.

  • APICS Certification desired.

  • Requires experience with ERP/MRP systems. Knowledge of SAP,SCM, WMS

  • Advanced skills in Excel, experience with Microsoft Office applications.

  • Experience with lean manufacturing and/or Six Sigma preferred.

Supervisory Responsibility

  • Leads and manages individual contributors, supervisors, leads
