JOB SUMMARY

As part of the Engineering group, primary focus is on the design, fabrication, implementation and debugging of new equipment and modifications to existing equipment.  Additional responsibilities include engineering support of process improvement, waste reduction and overall line efficiency improvements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Designs, develops, and modifies production machinery and equipment to improve quality and costs.

  • Coordinates vendor design, acceptance criteria, placement into operation, and debugging of new production equipment and machinery.

  • Investigates, specifies and provides economic justification of new production machinery, equipment and process.

  • Troubleshoot and solve technical problems pertaining to production machinery, equipment and process.

  • Supplies and maintain drawing files for all production machinery and equipment.

  • Provides written or on-site technical assistance to the other plants manufacturing similar products.

  • Coordinates manufacture and supply of production machinery or equipment to other plants.

  • Coordinates engineering activity with Maintenance and Machine Shop Supervision.

  • Closely coordinates engineering activities on Division R&D projections as directed.

  • Prepares standards for Preventive Maintenance, MODs, ERCOs, and issues proper documentation for manufacturing.

  • Generates CB2’s and provides technical information needed to maintain capital expenses budget.

  • Provides assistance in all phases of Budget and Standards preparation.

  • Supervises and assures the proper use of engineering methods and techniques such as time study, work simplification, systems analysis and value analysis.

  • Promotes and evaluates cost reduction, quality improvements and capacity expansion programs/strategies and as appropriate determines their economic and technical feasibility.

  • Supervises the preparation of all layouts for cost reductions, new products, etc., and maintain up-to-date layouts of plant equipment.

  • Proposes and implements changes in plant processes and equipment to increase efficiency and improve overall cost positions.  Includes total responsibility for preparation of design concepts and project submittal papers such as estimates of expenditure, savings and payback.

  • Designs, recommends and implements cost reduction projects within the scope of annual plant targeted goals.

  • Designs safety and comfort into processes and equipment.

  • Completes and/or supervises the completion of necessary equipment specifications, designs, drawings, etc.

  • Provides support to technicians as needed to maintain production goals.

  • Plays a primary role in ongoing support and leadership of the cultural transformation process.

  • 1st Shift, 8am-5pm Opportunity

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Performs other duties as directed by the Engineering Supervisor

  • Position is required to respond to unscheduled requirements such as off-scheduled hour phone calls for maintenance support.

Education and Experience:

Required:

  • H.S. Diploma/G.E.D.

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a high-speed manufacturing/industrial environment

Preferred:

  • Vocational/ technical school. Industrial Maintenance preferred.

  • Associates Degree In Industrial Maintenance or similar preferred.

  • Project Management Experience

  • CAM Driven Systems Experience

Work Environment:

  • BD is a smoke-free campus.  Smoking and the use of electronic smoking devices, marijuana, or tobacco products are not allowed on BD property, grounds or in the parking areas.  We appreciate your cooperation in adhering to this policy

  • False eyelashes, press-on fingernails, and Jewelry is not allowed on the production floor including dermals.  Any associate wearing dermals will be required to cover them while working on the production floor. 

  • Shoes are required to be Steel Toe and non-slip for all associates while on the production floor for safety purposes. Qualified new hires will have allowance provided.
