Sr Network Engineer

Job Description Summary

The Sr.Network Engineer should have proven experience in managing staff, exceptional technical knowledge, and excellent operational skills to ensure 24/7/365 operation of enterprise-level network infrastructure in a high-growth environment. This position will report to the Associate Director, Infrastructure Architecture and Engineering. The Sr.Network Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that the team applies the organization’s policies, standards, and procedures. This person will implement or adhere to processes for monitoring/alerting, systems maintenance, change control, and incident management. This role will be tasked with setting and achieving service level targets as well as coordinating and prioritizing project handoffs and enhancements to ensure network stability, exemplary customer support, and delivery of services.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Stay up to date with best practices and industry trends corresponding to IT Network Infrastructure.
  • Actively participate in developing technology roadmap, architecture, and standards to support stability, performance, and growth of the enterprise network.
  • Manage the tools and systems for monitoring, alerts, and reporting for the network and infrastructure and ensure continuous improvements to processes and capabilities.
  • Define, implement, and enforce configuration management and change management policies and practices.
  • Identify and develop a set of key KPI metrics to measure the effectiveness of network operations and application & system availability.
  • Responsible for the monitoring and event management of Network & Infrastructure equipment, circuits, bandwidth, and other related resources.
  • Build patch compliance reports and provide regular status updates for Network Engineering Team.
  • Install, configure, and upgrade software related to networking and infrastructure technologies.
  • Handle assigned tasks related to Network equipment procurement, documentation, reporting, etc.
  • Assist management in the control, establishment, and enforcement of security for network and infrastructure technology, desktops, and end-users.
  • Work after hours as necessary to minimize business interruptions (system outages, troubleshooting, system upgrades, etc.) and provide non-business hour support (both remote and onsite).
  • Help the team to prioritize open issues, define and track bugs while working with other internal groups (i.e., Facilities, Engineering, Information Security).
  • Drive and continually improve productivity and quality improvements within the team.
  • Drive the discussion and decisions of technical topics related to the team, as well as communicate incidents to key stakeholders.
  • May perform other duties as required.

KSA REQUIREMENTS (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent with solid work experience.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience working with Network Architecture, Design, and Operations.
  • Experience with Cloud technologies and network integrations.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and people management skills including coaching, promoting teamwork, resolving conflict, and conducting performance evaluation.
  • Proven experience managing and supporting a technical team/managed service provider.
  • Excellent verbal and written presentation skills.
  • Creative thinking to come up with new ideas to improve Network Operations standards and procedures.
  • Must excel in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge in the areas of networking (TCP/IP), IP protocols (BGP, IGP, OSPF, IS-IS, MPLS…), IP addressing, DNS’s and IP-VPN’s.
  • Expertise in Designing and managing Cisco VXLAN DC Fabris (NDFC).
  • Cisco data equipment experience and certifications (CCNA/CCNP) will be highly valued.
  • Experience with Network Management tools/software: Cisco DNAC, Solarwinds, ThousandEyes, Palo Alto Prisma, Wireshark/packet-captures - experience with a variety of platforms and reporting capabilities.
  • Broad experience with Cisco, F5 Networks, Palo Alto, ISE/DNAC, Infoblox/IPAM, and packet-capture technologies.
  • Extensive experience in working with Internal Audits and controls, has a background in ITIL processes and documentation requirements.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills (fault isolation, problem resolution, and root cause analysis).
  • Demonstrated experience using support/helpdesk ticketing systems and meeting SLA targets.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with other departments, service providers, company, and vendor support organizations.
  • Outstanding judgment and the ability to interact in a stressful and challenging environment.
