Senior Analyst, Commercial Contracting Process and Systems Governance - Hybrid

Job Description Summary

Reporting to the Sr. Director, Commercial Contracting Offer Development, this role will directly establish and drivie governance, process and technology optimization, and sustainable continuous improvement across the portfolio of Commercial Contracting Offer Development activities supporting the BD US Region businesses. This position will have close matrix collaboration with Commercial Contracting leadership, TGS/IT, Sales leaders, Commercial Excellence & Business Process orgs.

The position’s primary objective will be to advance Commercial Contracting reporting best practices across metric surveillance including target and deviation monitoring and stakeholder reporting. Additionally, the role will assist with and support the identification, operationalization, and establishment of governance through SLAs/metrics, process discipline and supporting a continuous improvement roadmap. Essential to these objectives will be working with IT to help establish a method for metric reporting, contract compliance & transparency, and benchmarking Commercial Contracting Offer Development, and stakeholders’ processes.

This role will help to monitor and provide metrics on processes for Contract Offer Development contract request intake assessment and manage reporting, to support overall efficiency and accuracy within Commercial Contracting Offer Development. This role will also support a new strategic customer focus capability within Contracting, supporting data gathering and reporting to help enable a more wholistic view across the strategic customer base to assist in contract development. Through close collaboration with our Contracting Offer Development leaders, Analytics/Master Data, Contract Execution, and Governance counterparts, the Sr. Data Analyst will support an improved internal customer experience for our organization.

Upon onboarding, and for a period of 6 to 8 months, this position will engage in a temporary assignment. Once the assignment has been completed, the Essential Responsibilities will be assumed.

The assignment will rely on engagement with major stakeholders and department leadership related to a US Region strategic initiative and will consist of tasks such as process standardization, data quality auditing & root cause identification, issue resolution, customer adherence, and impact analysis.

The CCO organization operates across the entire US Region, partnering with the business units to provide and develop enabling capabilities in the areas of commercial contracting, sales enablement, and operations, inside sales, customer care operations, business & pricing analytics, master data management, commercial enablement, operational excellence, and other functions. We aim to strengthen our foundational capabilities and deliver customer value through simplification and improvement initiatives, develop, and prepare our associates, build an inclusive culture, drive digital transformation, and expand our strategic capabilities while remaining agile to the evolving needs of our customers. 

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Develop KPI, benchmark, and process surveillance reporting dashboards for leadership and stakeholder business reviews.
  • Works directly with Contracting leaders, establishes, monitor,s and analyzes KPIs and SLAs to enable CI (best practice and opportunity insights), assesses operational health, and instills accountability across Commercial Contracting and stakeholders.
  • Assists in the creation of dashboards for Contract Offer Development systems and tools such as Apttus (CLM), Oracle CPQ, Salesforce, and contract compliance.
  • Provides insight for cadence reviews of KPIs and actions; escalates to ensure goals are achieved based on identified improvement strategy.  Supports teams through problem resolution including root cause analysis, corrective and preventive action.
  • Organizes and facilitates continuous process improvement initiatives. Engages with CCO Operations Excellence team to instill proper CI initiative management.
  • Partners closely with IT and supporting teams to drive operational efficiencies and optimization of automated processes and tools.  Creates/maintains inventory of tech platforms (ERP, Vistex, SFDC, CPQ, CLM, etc.) functionality and ensures performance and adoption appropriately to support commercial contract activities. Evaluates team adoption and usage consistencies.
  • Creates reporting and metrics to monitor Commercial Contracting Offer Development end to end processes such as requests, signed agreements, and contract lifecycle data.
  • Assesses Commercial Contracting inputs, outputs, and contract lifecycle intersections for efficiency, effectiveness, and cost vs benefit (e.g., process exception cost modeling, service model success.)
  • Collaborates with Contract Offer Development and Sales stakeholders to assist with inquiries for top strategic accounts such as pricing audits & reconciliation, determining ownership, and contract compliance.
  • Supports, and lead as needed, Commercial Contracting E2E governance initiatives (i.e., core team meetings/reviews, process discovery/mapping efforts, process orchestration/harmonization planning.)

About you: To be successful in this role, you will possess: 

  • Minimum bachelor's degree required.
  • Minnimum 5+ years demonstrated experience successfully navigating and collaborating across business and matrix organizations in the medical device or related healthcare industry field.
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience; understanding/managing against a business strategy and curating and executing continuous improvement ideas.
  • Advanced visual report building proficiency.
  • Advanced Excel and technical reporting skills with ability to manipulate data and create reporting, SFDC, Power BI, etc.
  • Strategic and analytical problem solver with business acumen. Able to evaluate key business drivers and develop clear recommendations and plans.
  • Ability to lead cross functional projects in an agile, measured manner, preferred.
  • Ability to lead business operational review meetings, communicate performance progress, and identify risks & opportunities to stakeholders in support of business objectives.
  • Advanced at obtaining, organizing, and analyzing data to make fact-based decisions, drive root cause analysis and evaluate outcomes.
  • Proven ability to quickly establish credibility, trust, and support within all levels of organization.
  • Advanced process simplification experience including process identification, mapping, evaluation, standardization, and optimization.
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint advanced proficiency
  • Ability to travel ~5%
