SDS (Solution Design and Services) Readiness and Requirements ensures the Implementation and Service and Support organizations are effectively prepared and ready for all new product and software releases. The Principal Consultant supports the SDS organization by leading new product and services programs applying program/project management skills, functional knowledge (e.g. Implementation and Service operations), and business acumen. Additionally, the Principal Project Consultant collaborates with numerous cross-functional team members to drive readiness through alignment of multiple product releases.

HYBRID role - 4 days per week ONSITE in San Diego, CA

Competencies

Strategy and execution (platform focused)

  • Must clearly understand and be able to articulate the needs of the SDS organization beyond the perspective of a particular function or job and how the SDS strategy fits with the greater MMS strategy.
  • Understanding of how the organization works, how the functions interact, how decisions in scope impact our ability to implement and support as well as how they impact BD financially is critical. Must possess the ability to drive programs to ensure alignment across all relevant products.
  • See the big picture and influence/develop strategic direction. At the same time must be able to partner with the platform and to define detailed scope items and roadmaps for broad programs and individual product releases.
  • Possess a solid understanding of where a particular product/program fits into a connected medication management solution and ability to engage team members from other projects as appropriate to ensure alignment across products.
  • Leverage a continuous improvement demeanor to motivate change
  • Define, drive and deliver clear, measurable commercial release entrance and exit criteria.
  • Business planning and opportunity assessment for organic and inorganic growth opportunities.

Project Management

  • Lead multiple programs and / or projects simultaneously using project management methodologies (scope management, tollgate, and risk & organizational change processes).
  • Own the development of project charters, plans, and schedules; run project budgets, communication plans, project review meetings, and results.
  • Identify and supervise key measures to ensure project success and prepare project status reports.
  • Close collaboration with product core teams to drive SDS readiness activities and processes
  • Resource and lead cross-functional extended project teams
  • Shown understanding of and experience with risk management principles (identifying, communicating, mitigating and escalating)
  • Authority level knowledge of BD GPDS (Global Product Development System) or ability to attain
  • Participate in focused aspects of M&A transaction execution including project management, due diligence, and integration planning. Work closely with business teams, internal functional guides (eg. legal, finance, Corporate Development, etc.) to support execution.

Leadership (people focused)

  • Lead and develop a successful extended team
  • Project/Program partner concern point (project issues, staffing, release timelines)
  • Mentor and develop Readiness Consultants
  • Participate in developing goals and objectives for extended team members
  • Provide significant input into annual review for each extended team member
  • Develop a proven network at all levels of the organization

Communication

  • Create and deliver presentations that provide succinct/concise recommendations to Senior Leaders and be able to provide rationale / justification behind the recommendations.
  • Understand and articulate the project’s impact to its collaborators. Partner with team members on plans to own the impact of a project, including training, communication and risk management.
  • Must be willing and able to constructively challenge ideas in private and public conversations across numerous roles and levels. Be a champion for the SDS organization.
  • Provide an appropriate vocal presence in meetings at all levels
  • Ensure adoption of new processes and knowledge application by identifying, supervising and communicating success metrics.
  • Draft communications and partner with Education team to drive timely and successful creation of training content.

Technical

  • Simultaneously contribute to multiple product and process improvement projects led by others using technical skills such as Agile, LEAN, six sigma, CTQ, etc.
  • Gather requirements, define and document business processes/procedures using workflow modeling techniques.
  • Analyze early adopter and qualitative data and recommend insights and solutions to management team and partner organizations.
  • Use data insights, process knowledge and critical thinking to identify and validate readiness opportunities.
  • Develop cases for readiness approach to optimize customer experience.

Administrative/Other

  • Efficient and effective use of matrixed resources

Requirements

  • Seven or more years of experience in project management and/or process improvement
  • Bachelor Degree preferred, will consider experience in lieu
  • Experience leading/supporting projects cross-functionally in an iterative, fast paced environment
  • Proven strong matrix leadership skills
  • Agile and forward thinking
  • Strong MS office skills particularly in sophisticated PowerPoint & Excel
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, verbal, listening and communication skills
  • Excellent verbal, written and communication skills
  • Strong leadership, group facilitation, and project management skills
  • Strong business operations/business process knowledge/experience
  • Experience with readiness efforts tied to mergers and acquisitions a strong plus
  • Experience with end of life product management a plus
