Job Description

    About the role

    As a Scientist III, you will thrive on translating complex science into impactful products. With strong expertise in experimental planning, data analysis, and troubleshooting, you bring sound scientific judgment, critical thinking, and a passion for quality into everything you do.

    Working hands-on in the laboratory while also working across departments to influence decisions, meet program commitments, and align solutions with customer needs and regulatory requirements. Curious and forward-thinking, you stay current with scientific and technological advancements and enjoy applying this knowledge to real-world challenges. A natural collaborator and mentor, you are equally confident leading studies, engaging partners, and contributing as a trusted technical expert to guide programs from concept through completion.

    Main responsibilities will include:

    • Build and complete experiments and test strategies for reagent systems, assays, workflows, and instruments.

    • Analyse experimental data and present findings to technical teams, review boards, and scientific meetings.

    • Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues to support robust product development.

    • Develop and support system-level requirements aligned with program and product goals.

    • Prepare and maintain clear, accurate protocols, technical reports, and study summaries.

    • Conduct and detail laboratory studies in compliance with good laboratory practice (GLP).

    • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to meet program achievements and commitments.

    • Apply sound scientific judgment, critical thinking, and technical expertise to advance Waters product development.

    • Integrate customer workflows, regulatory requirements, and emerging scientific and technological advances into experimental development.

    • Lead studies or initiatives as needed, mentor junior team members, contribute as a core team technical expert, and support project prioritisation and timeline development.

    About you

    • MSc or PhD or equivalent experience in Immunology, Cell Biology, Clinical Laboratory Science or related scientific field with a minimum of 3 years of relevant industry experience

    • Complete complex experiments independently, perform analysis & interpret experimental results, to make sound conclusions, and perform statistical analysis

    • Apply creative problem-solving skills to novel or complex applications

    • Critically evaluate proposed study builds with knowledge of statistics, the calculation of sample sizes and/or estimation of statistical power

    • Experience researching and applying scientific principles to build new or optimise existing laboratory procedures

    • Experience training bench-level personnel at multiple levels of education and/or expertise

    • Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to collaborate with others in multi-disciplinary team settings, influence decision making, and build group consensus

    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
