Monday-Friday 8am-5pm

Summary:

The Planner/Buyer is responsible for developing, monitoring, and executing production plans to ensure optimal inventory levels at the distribution center (DC). This role involves issuing SAP production orders, coordinating with operations and purchasing teams, and maintaining a continuous product flow to meet customer demand and inventory objectives. The Planner/Buyer also serves as a liaison with plant purchasing and may act as a buyer when necessary.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain production schedules for assigned sub-assemblies and finished goods to support the overall production plan and balance work center capacity.
  • Issue production orders for assigned products to meet firm production requirements.
  • Generate and manage production requirements through planned and firm orders to align with demand forecasts.
  • Review and adjust lot sizes, safety stock levels, replenishment lead times, and DFS settings to ensure compliance with inventory policies, dating restrictions, and demand plans.
  • Monitor the status of production and planned orders to meet inventory and customer service objectives; initiate corrective actions as needed.
  • Communicate regularly with Demand Planning, Marketing, and Customer Service teams regarding order status, production plans, and product availability.
  • Maintain inventory levels within defined policies and support corporate scrap reduction initiatives by identifying and prioritizing opportunities for improvement.
  • Prepare and approve documentation instructions (DIs) to support functional responsibilities.

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, and fractions.
  • Ability to analyze and solve abstract problems effectively.
  • Comfortable with extended computer use and prolonged sitting; ability to lift at least 10 lbs.
  • Experience in system integration or conversion is a plus.

Education and Experience

  • Associate degree in Business Administration or Materials Planning with 3+ years of related experience, OR High School Diploma with 5+ years of related experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years in an ISO or GMP-regulated industry.
  • CPIM and/or NAPM certification preferred.
