Job Description Summary

BD Peripheral Intervention (BDPI), a ~$2B global business within Becton Dickinson, is seeking a Sr. Project Analyst to directly support R&D project and program teams delivering BDPI’s New Product Development (NPD) pipeline.

This role focuses on project execution enablement, providing hands on support to project teams through application of project management best practices, facilitation of operating rhythms, and structured continuous improvement initiatives. The R&D PMO Specialist acts as a trusted execution partner to project managers and cross functional teams, strengthening planning discipline, risk management, and delivery predictability.

This position is ideal for an individual with practical project management experience who enjoys collaborating closely with teams and helping improve how work gets done. Experience with Lean concepts such as Obeya rooms or Kaizen facilitation is strongly valued but not required.

Essential / Key Job Responsibilities (including supervisory and/or fiscal):

Independently drives execution excellence across complex R&D projects by influencing project teams, partnering cross‑functionally, and applying sound judgment to guide planning, execution, and governance readiness. Operates with minimal direction, proactively identifying gaps, risks, and opportunities for improvement.

Project Execution Enablement

  • Partners with project managers and core teams to strengthen project planning, execution discipline, and governance readiness.

  • Provides hands on coaching and support in areas such as schedule quality, milestone readiness, RAID and risk management, dependency tracking, and action management.

  • Supports consistent use of PMO standards, templates, and delivery expectations across R&D projects.

Visual Management & Operating Rhythm

  • Establishes and supports project operating rhythms, including execution reviews, milestone readouts, and governance preparation.

  • Supports the setup, facilitation, and sustainment of visual management and Obeya style working environments where applicable.

  • Ensures action items and decisions are clearly captured, tracked, and resolved.

Continuous Improvement

  • Facilitates or supports Kaizen style improvement efforts, retrospectives, and structured problem-solving sessions focused on project execution challenges.

  • Identifies recurring delivery pain points and translates lessons learned into actionable playbooks, templates, and training materials to strengthen project execution practices.

  • Contributes to continuous improvement of PMO delivery practices, tools, and standards.

  • Partners with Quality, Regulatory, and R&D stakeholders to identify opportunities to improve the Design and Development Protocol, informed by project execution feedback, lessons learned, and best practices.

Collaboration & Escalation

  • Works closely with cross functional partners (R&D, Quality, Regulatory, Operations) to surface execution risks and coordinate issue resolution.

  • Elevates systemic risks, capacity concerns, and cross project dependencies to the PMO and appropriate governance forums.

Flex Support

  • Provides execution insights and feedback to portfolio governance discussions to inform portfolio level decision making and improvements.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in business, Engineering, or related discipline
  • Overall Experience: 5–7 years' experience in a global organization, preferably in a regulated manufacturing or R&D environment
  • Project Experience:
    • 5–7 years of project experience operating independently across multiple projects
    • Demonstrated experience applying structured project management methodology
    • Experience operating within a PMO environment
  • Team & Stakeholder Experience:
    • Proven ability to influence, coach, and support cross-functional teams without direct authority
    • Experience presenting project insights, risks, and recommendations to senior management
  • Process & Continuous Improvement: Experience identifying systemic execution challenges and contributing to process improvements
  • Technical Skills:
    • Advanced organizational, project planning, scheduling, and risk management skills
    • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and project tools (Outlook, Word, Excel with pivot tables, PowerPoint, SharePoint, MS Project)
    • Ability to apply project tools and data to support decision making and governance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification: PMP certification or equivalent project management credential
  • Repository Management: Experience designing and maintaining project repository structures that support governance, execution visibility, and compliance
  • Project Deliverables: Experience creating and improving core project deliverables (schedules, RAID logs, dashboards, milestone readiness materials)
  • Advanced Tools: Exposure to portfolio, roadmap, or enterprise project management tools beyond core MS Office (OnePlan, Power BI, etc.)
  • Team Experience: Experience working with multi-site and/or global teams across functions

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use sight, and use hands to manipulate, handle or feel objects, tools, controls, and office equipment. The employee frequently is required to verbally communicate with other associates. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel or crouch.
