Job Description

Primary Duties:
• Provides sterilization and microbiology testing as required (BI or product).
• Organize, supervise, and document training of assigned quality personnel to perform
microbiologic testing in accordance with quality procedures and quality related activities.
• Ensure compliance with retention of records for testing completed.
• Maintain an awareness of quality conformance for direct personnel records and personal
observations; initiate corrective action when conformance to requirements is lacking.
• Participates support for testing related to project tasks as required.
• Promotes a safe work environment. Provides recommendations on maintaining the safety of the
work environment. Follows safety procedures. Participates in Environment Health and Safety
(EH&S) programs. Initiates a corrective action whenever a hazard is identified.
• Escalates all observed laboratory hazardous conditions or unsafe work practices.
• Participates in Continuous Improvement Projects related tasks as required.


Laboratory Sustaining Activities:
• Supervise Inventory control activities to maintain accuracy of consumables and media used for
testing as well as equipment, tools required for on the job function.
• Performs cleaning, inspection, verification for calibration and maintenance of equipment.
• Ensure maintenance of all incubators monitoring equipment
• Sustain general housekeeping in the laboratory such as cleaning and disinfection of lab benches,
clean rooms, hoods, incubators, refrigerators


QMS responsibilities:
• Completes materials movement transactions on SAP system
• Generates Quality Reports such as Out of Specification Reports, Deviations Reports

Initiates and participates in investigations following established quality assurance procedures and
approved protocols, instructions.
• Maintains related logs and records. Performs equipment troubleshooting.
• Keeps abreast of the basic requirements for compliance in own area of work and aligns with those
requirements.
• Participates as required in training on regulatory issues affecting own area of work. Brings
regulatory compliance questions/issues to next level of management.


Education and Experience:
• Requires a bachelor’s degree in a related scientific field such as Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology,
Microbiology.
• Minimum of three year of experience in a laboratory or pharmaceutical/medical
device/biotechnology environment.
• Minimum five years supervision of wage or indirect personnel in the medical device industry
• Minimum five years ISO13485 work experience


Knowledge and Skills:
• Knowledge of the operation of related instrumentation such as Micropipettes and volumetric
devices, Microscopes, Micro plate reader, centrifuges and pipette and Biosafety Hoods.
• Basic knowledge in chemicals and kinetic reactions.
• Knowledge of the operation of related instrumentation such Spectrophotometry and Centrifuges.
• Knowledge of GMP, FDA, ISO and OSHA requirements highly desirable.
• Working knowledge of MS Windows environment software such as MS Office.
• Effective skills using analytical thinking, problem solving, interpersonal relationships, written and
oral communication, and planning/organization.
• Demonstrated ability to follow established policies and procedures.
• Fully Bilingual (English and Spanish).
• Preparation of microbial test supplies to include: maintaining adequate inventory of culture media,
reagents, and other solutions as well as QC testing of these preparations.
• Also, preparation of test equipment such as filtration devices, scissors, forceps, glassware.
• Operation and user maintenance of purified water system, steam sterilizer, media dispenser, pH
meter and other laboratory equipment.
• Experience in decontamination and cleaning of used glassware


Physical Demands: (if applicable)
Occasionally, the work requires carrying, lifting, pushing and pulling of heavy weight level of objects. In
addition, occasionally requires standing. Frequently, the job requires walking, sitting, reaching, handling,
fingering, talking, hearing, seeing (near/far) vision, visual color discrimination and seeing (depth
perception).


Work Environment: (if applicable)
• Apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Manage
stressful situations
• The work is performed constantly inside the building.

  • Also, the work environment has noise (vibration), hazards exposures (electrical, burns and

biomedical) and atmospheric conditions (fumes and odors).
